Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
The short version: We use your information only to see whether you qualify for community solar and to enroll you. We never sell your information, and we don't use your information for any other marketing.
LowerMyElectricBill.org ("we," "us") helps electric customers enroll in community solar programs. This policy explains what information we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- What you send us: your name, phone number, email, address, and a copy of your electric bill. Your bill includes your account number and electricity usage.
- If you ask about the larger discount: one document showing you're enrolled in, or eligible for, a qualifying assistance program.
- Your consent choice: whether you agreed to be contacted by phone or text, and when.
- Basic technical information: like most websites, our web host automatically records things such as your IP address and browser type. Our pages also load fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when a page loads.
We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics tools.
How we use it
- To check your eligibility, find solar farms with open capacity, and calculate your discount.
- To prepare your enrollment paperwork and enroll you.
- To contact you about your enrollment.
- To keep records the program or the law requires.
That's all. We don't use your information for any other marketing.
Who we share it with
- The community solar project you enroll with, and the company that manages its subscriptions, so they can enroll you. Your enrollment information also reaches your electric utility through that process, so credits can be applied to your bill.
- Companies that help us run things, such as our secure database, email, and text messaging services. They handle your information only to provide those services to us.
- When the law requires it, such as a court order or a request from a regulator.
We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
Calls and texts
If you check the consent box when you send your bill, we may call or text you about your enrollment. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or email us to stop calls.
How long we keep it
- If you don't enroll: we delete your bill and any assistance-program document within 30 days of receiving them.
- If you enroll: we keep your records while your subscription is active, and afterward for as long as the law or program rules require.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we have about you. Email us and we'll respond within 45 days. If the law or program rules require us to keep certain records, we'll tell you what we have to keep and why.
How we protect it
Bills are sent through a secure upload and stored in a secure database, and access is limited to the people who need it to process your enrollment. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
This site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
